Cold River Vodka, Orange Juice, Limoncello and Basil

Equal parts vodka and orange juice; add a dash of Limoncello and simple syrup infused with basil, garnish with purple basil! A light, refreshing cocktail!

The cocktail tastes as good as it looks!

So I have a fascination with photographing cocktails! I don’t know what it is, the ice, the clear glass, the vibrant colors of the drink…

This one started with a small amount of Basil Simple Syrup, then Ketel One Vodka (ran out of Cold River Vodka, made in Maine, of course), Limoncello, Cointreau, Blueberry Pomegranate juice and a splash of club soda. The syrup at the bottom prevented the ingredients from mixing until I stirred them.

The Makings of my Triple Citrus Basil-tini

I didn’t get a picture of my basil simple syrup…next time.

My bio always reads “wine and cheese daily”…this assortment came from a local MDI purveyor…

Sawyers Specialties in Southwest Harbor, Maine offers a wonderful assortment of wine and cheese. They offer tastings one Saturday each month, and will always help you determine what your palate might prefer.

If I have guests coming over for dinner or for cocktails late afternoon, I always visit Sawyers for my favorites. This assortment included Tallegio, Parmesan, Canadian Cheddar, Salametti, black olives with garlic and South African peppers (also known as Peppadews). I mixed up a bottle of Rose, a sizeable dash of Limoncello and a splash of club soda for this light and refreshing summer drink!

Even Food & Wine magazine was amazed by the selection in this small town.

Sawyer’s Market is owned by another brother and is equally as wonderful.
